Day 1

Béziers → Le Somail

Leave Béziers and quickly reach the iconic Nine Locks of Fonseranes—a true gem of the Canal du Midi. Pause in Colombiers, then ride through the impressive Malpas tunnel. From the hilltop site of the Ensérune Oppidum, take in sweeping views over the star-shaped fields of Montady.

The route continues through vineyards and villages: Poilhes, Capestang and its grand collegiate church, Argeliers—land of winemakers. You arrive at last in Le Somail, a picturesque hamlet born of the canal, perfect for a peaceful evening by the water.

Day 2

Le Somail → Narbonne

Follow the Canal de Jonction through Sallèles-d’Aude and visit the Gallo-Roman Amphoralis Museum. The route then joins the Canal de la Robine, leading straight into Narbonne’s historic center.

Stroll the old town on foot—explore the Archbishop’s Palace, the medieval donjon, the cathedral—and treat yourself to a gourmet stop at the covered market. A beautiful ending to an easy, sunlit cycling trip, ideal with a hybrid or electric bike.
