Day 1

44 km

Tours → Rigny-Usée

The adventure begins at Paulette’s agency in Tours, at 6 Place Michelet. Here you’ll pick up your bike, a few tips, and a smile. Before leaving town, take a quick detour through the old town to admire the timber-framed houses of Place Plumereau—an open-air postcard.

Then ride along the Cher river toward Savonnières, a peaceful village known for its petrifying caves, a quirky natural wonder. Just a little further, take a break at the stunning Château de Villandry, with its world-famous geometric gardens. Following the Loire, you’ll arrive in Rigny-Ussé, where a fairytale château—rumoured to have inspired Sleeping Beauty—marks the end of your first day.

Day 2

45 km

Rigny-Usée → Saumur

This second day along La Loire à Vélo takes you through riverside landscapes dotted with villages and historic gems. In Candes-Saint-Martin, take time to explore the impressive Romanesque-style Collegiate Church.

Next stop: Montsoreau. Here, the château rises right on the riverbank, and the village is known for its mysterious troglodyte dwellings. From there, the route leads to Saumur, a city with a proud heritage—its château, its wines, and its warm atmosphere. A cellar tour or a walk through the old town is the perfect way to end the day.

Day 3

69 km

Saumur → Angers

Your final stretch by bike leads through the Saumur vineyards. Several estates along the way offer tastings—ideal for a break in the shade. Ride toward Gennes to discover the ruins of a Roman bridge and the quiet charm of Saint-Veterin church.

Then pause at Les Rosiers-sur-Loire, a peaceful riverside stop before heading on to Angers. Once there, explore the medieval town centre, the impressive Château d’Angers and its one-of-a-kind Apocalypse Tapestry.

Your route ends at our drop-off partner at Hôtel de France, 8 Place de la Gare in Angers. Just return your bike with ease, and take time to enjoy the hotel or the city’s many treasures.
