The perfect route when you need a simple break from everyday life and the buzz of Paris! Don’t worry—Paulette’s suggested stretch is just 90 km.

Discovering the Scandibérique

Looking for a gentle escape from Paris? This ride along the Scandibérique leads you in one day from the capital to the UNESCO-listed Château de Fontainebleau. Flat terrain and well-maintained paths make this route accessible for all—an ideal first adventure by bike, flowing with history and riverbanks.

Begin your journey at Paulette’s agency in Paris 15th (115 rue Brancion). After a few spins through the city, you’ll reach the Seine near the François-Mitterrand Library and head south. Along the way: the striking Chinese-inspired Chinagora architecture, the industrial outskirts, and the low hum of planes above Orly create a surprisingly fluid and dynamic backdrop. Cross the Ivry-Charenton footbridge and you’re on the right bank—the bike route stretches ahead.

Beyond Villeneuve-Saint-Georges, the Seine turns wild again. In Corbeil-Essonnes, stop to explore old mills or browse the market if your timing is right. Then, into the green you go—past forests, meadows, and sleepy barges. At Bois-le-Roi, refresh yourself at the leisure center with a water break and restrooms.

In Melun, marvel at the “Affolantes,” whimsical 19th-century mansions, before entering a landscape of forest, cliffs, and Impressionist villages. The final stretch to Fontainebleau is an ode to slow travel: Samois-sur-Seine, the majestic forest, and at last, the Château de Fontainebleau—an architectural and natural treasure.

Return Trip : A direct regional train (TER) brings you back to Paris in just 40 minutes from Fontainebleau-Avon station. The perfect way to head home—tired legs, light heart.
