CYCLING IN PARIS

PARKING

During your various Parisian trips, you will sometimes need to park your bikes for a few hours to enjoy the terraces, the emblematic monuments of Paris, but also certain pedestrian areas.

Our Paulette bike rental service includes bike locks, which you can use to park your bikes safely in different places.

There are more than 60,000 free bicycle parking spaces throughout Paris. They are generally located near the capital's main points of interest; emblematic monuments, museums, metro stations, etc.

There are also bike stations, which operate on a weekly, monthly or annual subscription basis, where you can also put the batteries of your electric bikes in lockers to recharge them safely.

You can also use specially equipped car parks to park your bikes in complete safety; by visiting the 12p5 website, you will have access to the spaces available near your location.

Finally, the bicycle lockers located in the stations, called Véligo Station, can be used simply by presenting a valid navigo pass.

MANDATORY RULES

With the hustle and bustle of the capital and its many inhabitants, it is necessary to respect a few safety rules so that your bike rides are as pleasant as possible. Paulette informs you of some rules to respect.

The first rule is that of visibility; this is why lights and reflectors on the front and back of your bike, but also on the wheels and pedals, are compulsory.

For children under 12 years of age, helmets are compulsory, but for those over 12 years of age, helmets are strongly recommended.

Of course, the presence of brakes at the front and rear of the bike is mandatory. Make sure you check them before you leave on your bike.

For your comfort and safety, we recommend that you ride with sufficiently inflated tyres.

Respecting the rules of the road is essential when cycling, so please remember that the use of mobile phones, even with headphones, is prohibited.

CYCLING NETWORK IN PARIS AND THE PARIS REGION

Paris is moving more and more towards the democratisation of bicycle travel and this is becoming more and more apparent: developed spaces, demarcated lanes, numerous developments for future bicycle paths, creation of places and parking spaces...

Thus, there are more than 1,000 kilometres of cycle lanes in the capital, and nearly 6,000 kilometres in the whole of Ile de France. You can find the map of cycle paths in Paris here, and if you want to try your hand at cycling, visit our suggested itineraries page, which lists the routes available from our bike rental agencies!
