Today, we give you 5 ideas for two-day cycling trips, either directly from our Bordeaux agency, or accessible in less than 2 hours by train (our bike rental agency is located less than 10 minutes by bike from the Bordeaux Saint-Jean train station). Rent a bike from Friday evening to Sunday evening and set off on a few dozen kilometers of cycling adventure.

Join the Arcachon Basin by bike.

Bordeaux - Arcachon by bike is an unforgettable experience that combines the beauty of nature, the rich history of the region and the delicious local cuisine. Along the way, you can enjoy panoramic views of the Atlantic coast, dunes, pine forests and picturesque villages. You can also discover the famous vineyards of the Médoc and the Bassin d'Arcachon, as well as the fresh oysters and delicious seafood for which the region is famous. Whether you are an experienced cyclist or a beginner, this cycling adventure will allow you to reconnect with nature while discovering the hidden treasures of this beautiful French region.

From Arcachon to Biscarrosse by bike

Ride a portion of the famous Vélodyssée by loading your bikes on the train to Arcachon. In less than an hour by train, you will be on the Arcachon Basin and you will have access to this marked out itinerary. Start cycling on a first stage of about thirty kilometers during which you can discover the sumptuous Dune du Pilat. For your second day of cycling, you will cycle under the pine trees of the Landes region and you will be able to enjoy a swim (or several!) in the Great Lakes of Cazaux-Sanguinet before cycling the last few kilometers to the train station of Ychoux.

Discover the Arcachon Basin by bike

Once again from Arcachon, enjoy a peaceful ride to discover the richness of the Arcachon Basin. Take the maritime shuttle from the pier to reach Cap Ferret, and ride quietly along the bike path along the basin. Take the time to deviate from the route in order to visit the oyster ports, the small villages, the ornithological park of Teich... 70 kilometers loop, choose your stage as you wish and go here to discover the route!

Roger Lapébie bicycle path

Great classic of cycling trips from the city of Bordeaux, the old railroad is part of the cycling itinerary "Canal des 2 mers à vélo". You can take it for a 2-day trip and return by train from La Réole. You will cross woods while discovering lakes, old train stations, small villages, as well as a monument registered in the UNESCO world heritage; the Abbey of Sauve-Majeure (you will have to make a small detour of 2 kilometers if you wish to see it!). You will find here some recommendations of accommodation for your cycling stage.

The Gironde Estuary from Bordeaux to Royan by bike

For those who are more accustomed to pedaling, we recommend that you start your cycling adventure with a few more kilometers (150 kilometers) in the direction of Royan, in order to discover the Gironde Estuary by bike.

Leaving the quays of the beautiful city of Bordeaux and crossing some vineyards, you will soon arrive in Lamarque, where you can take the ferry to cross the river with your bikes on board. You will then reach the town of Blaye, where you can put your bikes down for a while to admire its citadel.

From there, you will discover large vineyards, small marinas and pretty authentic villages. You will pedal with a very rich panorama until your arrival in Royan.

For the return trip, take advantage of our Paulette bike drop-off point, or take your bikes on board the train to Bordeaux!
