The green line in Nantes: Ephemeral routes for exploring the city by bike

The city of Nantes, in France's Pays de la Loire region, is famous for its rich cultural and historical heritage. But beyond its well-known treasures, it also offers an original and immersive way to discover its hidden gems: the Green Line.

What is the Green Line ?

Nantes' Ligne Verte is a unique artistic and cultural initiative designed to help visitors discover and explore the city. Throughout the year, a green line is drawn on the ground in the heart of the city to guide you along the Voyage à Nantes route. You'll be able to discover cultural sites, emblematic monuments, works of contemporary art and all the major sights of this destination.

The essential stops on the green line :

  • The Château des Ducs de Bretagne : An emblematic departure point on the Ligne Verte, the Château des Ducs de Bretagne is a place steeped in history. Explore the ramparts of this medieval fortress and admire the view over the city before setting off by bike.

  • Les machines de l'Île : A must-see in Nantes, the machines de l'île plunge you into a fantastic world of giant machines and mechanical creatures.

  • The Parc des Chantiers : Located on the Ile de Nantes, the Parc des Chantiers is an ideal green space for a relaxing break.

  • The banks of the Erdre : Cycle along the banks of the Erdre and discover one of Nantes' most beautiful landscapes. With its moored barges and shady banks, this walk offers a moment of tranquillity right in the heart of the city.

  • The Place Royale and the Passage Pommeraye : Finish your walk in style by exploring the Place Royale and the Passage Pommeraye. Admire the architecture of the square, a true architectural gem from the 19th century.

The Voyage à Nantes Festival :

Every year, usually between June and September, the city is transformed into a huge artistic trail for the Voyage à Nantes Festival! To mark the occasion, the city council organises an itinerary taking in all the city's most emblematic landmarks. A special feature: artists from all horizons are invited to set up temporary exhibitions to present the city in a new light.
